How is being overweight linked to PCOS?
I know, you've probably heard it a thousand times. Being overweight
can lead to all sorts of health problems. Polycystic Ovary
Syndrome, or PCOS, is no exception. Doctors have long known that
women with PCOS who are overweight can actually reduce their
symptoms and the severity of the disease by losing weight. There's
no need for strict diets and exhausting exercise regimens either.
Adding in moderate exercise (with your doctors approval of course)
and reducing calories where you can will go a long way.
Egg Donation and In Vitro Fertilization
When more conservative measures fail to effectively treat
infertility in women, including the use of fertility drugs,
intrauterine insemination and rarely intra-fallopian insemination,
many couples or single women may turn to in vitro fertilization.
This process involves harvesting an egg from an ovary and

Even minor weight loss ‘ups fertility’ in obese women

colleagues said conducted a three-month study of 40 obese women who
were not ovulating. Many of them suffered from polycystic ovary
syndrome (PCOS). The group’s average age [...]
Increasing fertility threefold with DHEA?
Scientists have found a statistical connection between the vitamin
supplement DHEA, used to counter the effects of aging, and
successful pregnancy rates in women undergoing treatment for
infertility. In the first controlled study on the effects of the
supplement, researchers found that women being treated for
infertility who also received supplements of DHEA were three times
more likely to conceive than women being treated without the
additional drug.
Paying for Infertility Treatment
It's no secret that infertility treatment can be quite
expensive.  The biggest variable is, of
course, how long it will take you to become pregnant.Â
Paying for one cycle of clomid or injectables is very different
from going through multiple cycles of IVF or egg
donation. And because coverage varies widely by
policy, it is often difficult to sort out exactly what you'll have
to pay....Read Full Post
